INTERVIEW

Politics

Attorney for A1+ TV Company in European Human Rights Court and the head of International Lawyers Union Tigran Ter-Yesayan is answering the questions our correspondent put to him.

Correspondent: Why you are so convinced the A1+ is at advantageous position?

T.T.: I think so because the issue of consideration of the suit is now discussed in the Court Chamber. Bilateral negotiations are to start soon. After September 20, when Armenian government’s written reply is expected, the hearing will be more active, The Court can both take into account the response or to continue hearings without taking it into consideration.

Correspondent: Is it possible the A1+’s complaint will be the first suit to be heard in European Court against Republic of Armenia?

T.T.: This is one of the first suits. There are two or three suits filed to the Court and they are also under consideration now.

Correspondent: If the suit is heard, when the verdict will be delivered?

T.T.: The verdict is likely to be delivered within the next year. The Chamber has two decisions to make on A1+: to accept the company’s complaint and to deliver verdict.
