OPPOSITION RALLY IS OVER

Politics

Despite the law enforcement intense preparations for expected march – policemen lined the Baghramyan Avenue pavements – the opposition leaders decided to refrain from any march after their three-hour-long rally.

Political activists informed people about latest development of the situation in the republic. They said no accord has been reached with the ruling coalition.

The opposition demands remain the same.

Armenian Democratic Party leader Aram G. Sargssyan commented on president Kocharyan’s recent statement that he viewed the opposition actions as treason, because, as he said, “when I meet Azeri president, Armenian opposition calls for transition of power”. Sargssyan said Kocharyan’s meeting with his Azeri counterpart is a routine one having no special importance.

“Karabakh problem will be solved only when Armenian people have confidence in the authorities”, he said.
