“LET AZERBAIJAN APPLY TO MINSK GROUP CO-CHAIRS”

Politics

Minsk Group Russian Co-Chair Yuri Merzlyakov announced that the meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Ministers scheduled on March 29 won’t take place by wish of one of the sides. Did Armenia voice that wish? If yes, why? If no, how does the Foreign Affairs Ministry comment on the fact?

Armenia has received the official invitation in written on participation in Minsk Group meeting planned on March 29, Prague by Minsk Group Co-Chairs with their signatures on and positively responded to it. For the time being no official paper over declaring the above meeting invalid has been received.

Ilham Aliev keeps refuting the fact that there had been agreements reached at Key West and Paris negotiations between Armenian President Robert Kocharyan and Heydar Aliev, suggesting the Armenian side to make public those documents if they exist. How does Foreign Affairs Ministry comment on it?

We have announced that we consider the topic on existence of the papers about Key West and Paris agreements spent. However, we repeat that Minsk Group has drawn up the paper on those agreements and not we, and if the Azeri part is interested in publication of them, let it apply to Minsk group.

It’s a quite another matter Azerbaijan doesn’t want to reckon with the work done during previous years and the results of them. It’d better announce it openly.

How does Foreign Affairs Ministry treat the statements of Uzbekistan President over Karabakhi conflict, saying it is necessary to protect the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, “Armenia must leave the occupied territories” and the phase version of the conflict settlement is lacking vitality. Doesn’t Uzbekistan meddle in the issues, which don’t concern it?

We think, unfortunately, Uzbekistan President is not well-informed about the process of the negotiations within Minsk Group format and the contents or else he would avoid making such a controversial allegation.
