FOR LEGAL ELECTIONS IN ARMENIA

The 6th sitting of European Union-Armenia parliamentary cooperation committee started today in Parliament. Parliament Speaker Arthur Baghdasaryan, Germany Ambassador to Armenia Hans Wolff Bartelz, Head of the European Commission Delegation Torben Holtze and European Union Ambassadors were present for the sitting.

When making a speech Arthur Baghdasaryan reminded that Armenia pursued the policy of integration with the European family, aimed at bringing it in correspondence with the European standards.

Baghdasaryan welcomed EU decision over involving Southern Caucasus in “New Neighbors of European Union” format, which supposes new kind of relations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Shugaryan said numerous attempts on regional cooperation were made but were rejected by Azerbaijan. It’s the only collaboration, which might have a positive influence for the region.

Ruben Shugaryan also referred to the complementary policy in Armenian foreign policy, stressing that it is necessary to equally contact with both Moscow and Washington like they keep balance in their relations with each other.

Torben Holtze, Head of the European Commission Delegation in Armenia, voiced hope that European Union-Armenia cooperation will positively affect upon activity of the Legislative Power, in particular, the laws, which will enable to hold lawful elections in the country, will be improved.
