CASTING OF LOTS IN JOURNALISTS ACCREDITATION ORDER

Justice Minister David Harutyunyan gave a news conference shortly after the ministry-worked-out order of accreditation of journalists had been upheld by the government.

The minister said the new order aimed at ensuring transparent activity of state bodies.

Each minister must give a press conference twice a year but not all media outlets’ reporters would be given access to events. “There is no enough room for that”, Harutyunyan said.

To decide who will be chosen, state officials thought out casting of lot.

It is not the only strange item in the order.

When journalists voiced their discontent with casting of lots, Harutyunyan calmed them saying the clause would be withdrawn from the order.

“How? The government has already adopted it”, journalists asked.

“It is still under discussion”, answered the minister.
