THOSE IN FAVOR OF MASS MEDIA BILL

Politics

Yerevan Press Club supports Mass Media Bill while National Press Club opposed.

“In August of this year, we realized that it would be easier to work on the Mass Media Bill proposed by Justice Ministry instead of making alterations in ours”, Yerevan Press Club Chair Boris Navasardyan said at news conference on Wednesday.

Navasardyan upheld the bill saying despite some shortcomings it is good enough to be put in force. He said international experts’ opinions and remarks have been taken into account in the bill passed by parliament at the second reading.

In his opinion, amendments should be made also to Criminal Code, Civil Code and the Radio and Television Law.

Chair of Journalists’ Union Astkhik Gevorgyan, quoting parliamentary commission head Hranush Hakobyan, said all proposals should be considered by lawmakers though the bill was already passed at the second reading.
