ALL THE WAYS TAKING TO NATO
Support A1+!USA expert Zbigne Bjezinsi announced the other day that Armenia and Azerbaijan will finally become NATO members. Secretaries of Security Councils at the Armenian and Russian presidents have today referred to that statement at the joint press conference.
MEMBERSHIP TO NATO IS OUT OF AGENDA
”Russia intensifies its relations with NATO”, Vladimir Rushaylo, Secretary of Security Council at the Russian president, announced. ”Armenian president has already said that the issue on membership to NATO is out of the agenda of our foreign policy. But Armenia cooperates with NATO member-states”, Serj Sargssyan, Secretary of Security Council at the Armenian president, added.
THE PURPOSES ARE COMMON
Rushaylo and Sargssyan also announced that within Rushaylo’s visit to Armenia 2 documents have been signed. 2004’ program on Collaboration between Security Councils at Armenian and Russian presidents was approved and a protocol was made as a result of negotiations in Armenia. ”We don’t have a common frontier, but we have a common purpose – establishment of stability and peace in Caucasus”, Mr Rushaylo announced after the documents had been signed.
CLOSE COLLABORATION
During the visit to Armenia Vladimir Rushaylo met Armenian Police Head Hayk Harutyunyan and the leaders of force structures. ”The nowadays dangers of security make us cooperate more closely”, Rushaylo said.
For that aspect he stressed collaboration between Caucasus states and added that one of them, Georgia had suggested to hold a meeting at the level of Secretaries of Security Councils.
UNPRECEDENTED ECONOMIC GROWTH
At the visit to Armenia Vladimir Rushaylo met Armenian PM and discussed a group of economic issues. By his word, an unprecedented growth has been fixed in the economic field as a result of Armenian-Russian collaboration. ”In the first half of 2003 trade turnover made USD 116.8 million, which is higher by 80,7 % in comparison with the previous year”, he said.
UNSOLVED PROBLEMS
Mr Rushaylo referred to “Property for Debt” contract. ”Armenian-Russian intergovernmental committee is occupied with implementation of the contract. There are some unsettled issues and specialists examine them”, he said.
