Support A1+!“We welcome the fact that PACE has decided to be occupied with Karabakhi problem, and we do hope that appointment of an authoritative political figure like Terry Davis, as a PACE spokesman for Karabakhi conflict, will give a chance to European parliamentarians to make more thorough and impartial attitude to such a significant problem” .
Oleg Esayan, Speaker of Karabahki Parliament, told this to “De Facto” Agency in Stepanakert.
According to him, Davis’ visit to Karabakh and meetings with Karabakhi high rankers are important to represent an unbiased report.
Esayan is sure, meetings of Davis in Yerevan and Baku alone may hardly be enough for making a complete opinion about Karabakhi conflict /Visit to Karabakh was not envisaged within Davis’ first visit to the region/. He said Nagorno Karabagh is not just a “land” or a “territory”, it’s s country, having de facto existed for 12 years.
Karabakhi Parliament Speaker appraised highly the attention the spokesman has focused on the fate of the refugees of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Esayan voiced doubt over the apprehension by Davis who said his visit to Nagorno Karabagh might be labelled as recognition of NKR, though the official Stepanakert has never hidden it aims to achieve for Nagorno Karabakh Republic to be recognised by the international public, he says.
Reminding that many high officials have visited Karabakh since 1991, Parliament Speaker stressed neither the visit part, nor the receiving one made any attempt to consider those visits as components for recognising the independence of Karabagh.
“Visit of Davis to NKR, his becoming aware of the stances of the legally elected Authorities, and the standpoints of the social and political organisations of Karabakh would be respect display of PACE Spokesman to Karabakhi people and would remove all doubts of full value of the papers prepared by him”, Esayan added.
