AUTHORITIES WORKING OUT NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR RIGGING ELECTION

Politics

The authorities promised repeatedly that those guilty of illegalities taken place during the first round of presidential elections in Armenia should be punished. And now they fulfilled their promise with surprising “impartiality”.

Members of a number of Yerevan’s Shengavit district were replaced with other persons. But this replacement is suspicious enough, as those replaced were the opposition representatives, mostly National Democratic Union’s members. The chairs of the election commissions justified their decision by saying “these persons were absent from the commissions’ meetings”. It is remarkable that the opposition representatives weren’t informed about the meetings. The commissions’ chairmen left all their complaints that they were ignored without any answer.

National Democratic Union’s leader Vazgen Manukyan is going to file motion to the Central Election Commission demanding to crack down on above mentioned illegalities. “Hayelectro” works’ employees said passports were taken from them to give them passes and weren’t returned. In their words, they’ve heard their chief, Seyran Gurgenich, said “it is now not necessary you to go to vote”.
