PRESENTATION TOOK PLACE IN CAUCASUS MEDIA INSTITUTE

Politics

Presentation of “Presidential Elections, Armenia, 2003” guide-book was held Thursday in Caucasus Media Institute. The book is released in association with Swiss Bureau for Cooperation and Development in Russian and English languages in the edition of 3,000.

The aim of the book is to help Armenian and foreign journalists in highlighting the presidential elections scheduled for February 19, says Deputy Director of the Institute Mark Grigoryan.

The brochure contains a broad outline for Armenia’s political system and elections as well as election-related legislation and detailed information about presidential candidates and their programs.

Mark Grigoryan says the programs presented in a few key aspects including internal and external policies, attitude toward Karabakhi problem, relationship with Armenian community overseas, economic and social policies, education and culture.

The program of the republic’s current president is issued separately and attached to the book. The think is that president Kocharyan’s electoral team ignoring all requests didn’t submit the program by the deadline set and the book went to press without it.

Presidential candidates Petros Makeyan, Arshak Sadoyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan and Raffi Hovhannissyan who have already withdrew from the race were presented in the brochure for the same reason.

The Institute’s Deputy Director noted that none of the manual authors’ team is a member of any political party. That’s why, composing the brochure, they were guided by the principles of maximal impartiality.

The book is available to all interested in. An additional edition is to be released in case of necessity.
