Politics

Today the Union for 16 parties in opposition discussed the issue on the common candidate for Armenian presidency. But not the way the public wanted. It was just made more accurate: How much are the 16 parties loyal to the initial principles regarding election of the common candidate ? .

Those present re-confirmed their readiness to unite round the common candidate.

The budget issue was the next for discussion. MPs of Opposition union are displeased with 2003 budget draft . It was announced at the session the education field in particular is neglected.

By the way, 16’s MPs are against increase of salary of parliamentarians up to 700 $ while a pensioner’s pension is not in keeping with the least basket of goods.

The other issue discussed at the session was about the changes in the Election Law Code. “The 16’ union is in earnest about the changes in the Election Law Code and is ready to collaborate with the parties out of 16 over the issue. Our statement is not a slogan or a memorandum. We stress the importance of free and just elections” , Ruzan Khachatryan, Press Secretary of the 16, says.

The next issue, 16 were interested in, was the problem of “Noyan Tapan” TV Company. TV and Radio National Committee didn’t accept “Noyan Tapan”’s claim for tender, reasoning no certain frequency range is stated in the claim. People’s Party of Armenia appeared in defence for “Noyan Tapan”. The rest 15 parties joined the statement.
