REPUBLICANS CONSOLIDATE THEIR STANCES
Support A1+! “Republic” Party achieved successes in the elections of local government institutions . 205 out of republican candidates proposed in 220 communes won .
Galust Sahakyan, the Head of majority in Parliament, comments on the fact this way: “Recently “Republic” Party established structures stronger and consolidated its stances. Besides, Opposition orientated itself to one problem only” . Mr Sahakyan says fact of election bribes and falsification is out of question .
As he appraises, no election irregularity took place either by Beglaryan’s or Zurabyan’s teams in Kentron Commune . He thinks Gagik Beglaryan, the candidate seconded by “Republic” Party, won thanks to his authority and respect. He is also sure Ararat Zurabyan to have a big team of supporters but the reason he failed was both that the issue had been politicised and he had been introduced as a member of Armenian Nation-Wide Movement .
Nevertheless, majority head thinks the elections to be just and transparent. Electorate was more active than in 1999 .
