PARLIAMENT SESSION HELD
Support A1+! It was very difficult today to secure quorum in Parliament after elections of local government institutions . Though more than 70 MPs had been registered before the session began, no quorum was secured for agenda approval voting. Besides, many of MPs were unable to come to Parliament after intensive night of elections. Others (some Opposition ones) were present but didn’t take part in voting.
As Emma Khudabashyan, member of “Joghovrdi Dzayn” (Voice of People)
MP group told us, bills are brought to discussion which don’t proceed from people’s interests .
Parliament couldn’t set agenda for 3 day long session . Voting of bill on setting pay privileges for drinking and irrigation water supply took place after that. This one was not set, either. Parliament Speaker Armen Khachatryan blamed the elections for the situation. Many MPs offered to stop session as there was no quorum and to continue it the following day. But Tigran Torosyan announced it to be law infringement and didn’t accept the offer .
Hranush Hakobyan’s suggestion was unique. She offered MPs to leave the Parliament Hall. “Let the leaders only stay there. Unnatural situation will be created and the session will be stopped. Neither law breach, nor any discussion” ,- she said. Almost all the MPs followed her offer. Nevertheless, some stayed in the Hall and Armen Khachatryan had to continue the session.
