WHY DOES TURKEY HATE US UP TILL NOW?
Support A1+!At request of Atom Egoyan, the Armenian producer from Canada, "Ararat" film was screened today for Mass Media exclusively , giving them beforehand an opportunity to have questions ready which will be put to the producer at the press conference on September 23.
Egoyan's film about the Armenian Genocide has been ready for a year but was first demonstrated at Cannes Festival. The film was shown under the out-of-competition order for political reasons.
The producer represents Armenian Genocide in a non-standard way. He didn't use archives, tapes and pictures . The actors, including Charles Aznavour, are images born of thoughts. By one of Arshil Gorki's pictures, they remember the horrors of genocide also giving the guilty side a chance to say its own words. The rhetorical question raised by Aznavour's hero, is interesting: "Why does Turkey hate us up till now?" .
"Ararat" film evoked huge reaction in Canada, France and Turkey . Of course, the latter appeared with a negative note which was not a surprise.
The film will be screened for the vast masses from September 20.
