Armenian Ombudsman, Commissioner for Human Rights meet in Strasbourg
Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Arman Tatoyan met with Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe (CoE) Nils Muižnieks in Strasbourg on June 1. The interlocutors discussed the ongoing works aimed at preventing tortures and ill-treatment in correctional facilities and the legislative changes proposed by the Armenian Ombudsman aimed at protecting the rights of inmates. During the meeting, Arman Tatoyan and Nils Muižnieks also discussed the functions envisaged by the constitutional law on the Human Rights Defender and attached importance to cooperation with civil society.
