Supply of Iranian gas to Georgia through Armenia is kept secret (video)
Iranian gas in the amount of about $ 6 million has been transferred to Georgia through the territory of Armenia, Johnny Melikyan, an expert on Georgian affairs, told journalists on September 7. He says still several months ago, a private company said it had a contract to import Iranian gas. The expert says despite the negotiations with the Iranian side on gas diversification efforts, the official Georgia is trying not to raise the issue during the pre-election period. “Azerbaijani SOCAR which provides 90 percent of Georgia's gas has a serious influence on Georgia's political life at this pre-election period. Several days ago, a new gas pipeline was built by the SOCAR. During the opening ceremony, SOCAR’s President together with the Georgian Minister of Energy, announced that the fund created by their company would sponsor Azerbaijani students. In doing so, they are trying to have a serious impact on the Azeri community," Johnny Melikyan said.
