On July 19, the Public Council held an extraordinary closed-door session to discuss the situation in the country since an armed attack on a police station in Yerevan launched by Sasn Dzrer armed group of an Armenian radical opposition movement on Sunday. The participants also discussed ways to find peaceful solution to the crisis. The participants of the meeting agreed that both sides should demonstrate the will to resolve the issue through dialogue and negotiations in order to reduce the possible negative consequences. The Public Council expressed its readiness to help the society and the state to overcome this tense situation without shocks. The PC finds that after the resolution of the current situation ‘a broader dialogue’ is necessary between the authorities and different layers of society to discuss the problems faced by Armenia, including the Karabakh conflict.
