Hakob Ghazanchyan was unanimously re-elected as Chairman of Armenia's Union of Theatre Workers for a four-year term during the Friday conference of the Union. There were no other candidates for the post except him. Ghazanchyan, who has been in office for nine years, announced that he will do his best for the Union to work in a new way and with new projects. “I am often asked if I do not want to quit my work and I answer only when I feel satisfied with my work, shall I leave it.” Before the election, Mr Ghazanchyan presented a report about the activities of the Union over the past two years. He hailed the attention towards the regional theatres and said Gyumri’s theatre will soon have a new building. Speaking about the condition of Yerevan theatres, Mr Ghazanchyan said, “Two of our theatres – the National Theatre and State Pantomime Theatre, do not have buildings. The latter is a state structure. So many buildings are being constructed or emptied I wonder whether it is too difficult to allocate a building to this theatre...” Before the start of the conference, Mr Ghazanchyan talked to A1+. He said he believed that his colleagues wanted him to be re-elected because they seemed to be satisfied with his work.
