Wrong use of medicine can cause serious health problems and even result in death. If the time of taking medicine, their combination, amount and dose aren’t kept, the medicine can have irreversible impact on health. It is a problem, which is paid little attention, but according to the data of NPSF research, 42 percent of people face the problem of wrong usage of medicine during their life by breaking the hours and order of taking medicine. What to do in order to avoid this problem? Armenian programmers have found the solution by creating a mobile app, which reminds the patient of the hour and dose of the medicine. “The name of solution proposed by our team is MEDAS. It is a smart assistant for drawing schedule, which will remind a patient everything connected with the right usage of medicine,” notes Mkhitar Mkrtchyan, member of the team, which created this app, and adds that the cases of wrong usage of medicine happen not only out of the medical institutions (nursing homes, orphanages and among citizens), but also in the medical institutions. “First of all the medical institutions need this mobile app, as only one person, senior nurse, controls the process of taking medicine in the medical institutions irrespective of the number of the patients. During the morning tour of doctors the senior nurse writes down the instructions which pills must be included or removed from the treatment course. Human factor exists in such work and the cost of mistake is big. With the help of MEDAS the medical worker can create profiles of several users at the same time with their individual data and receive reminder for each user,” says Mkhitar.
