New Armenia sets December 1 as day of public mobilization (video)
Saviors have picked a date for the ouster of Serzh Sargsyan’s administration. The day of mobilization to achieve regime change before the planned constitutional referendum is set on December 1, a senior member of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front announced today. “We do not invite our people to a recurrent rally at Liberty Square and then send them homes. No, this time, things are going to be different,” Jirair Sefilyan said today. He says this time revolt is inevitable. We shall stand until the last moment and if the authorities try to use violence again, they will receive an adequate response. “Should they dare to use force against peaceful people fighting for their rights through street protests they will receive an appropriate response by all of us I shall be the first to backfire them,” Sefilyan said. He adds that that everything should be done to prevent the struggle from turning into a long-lasting process. “Our people are not ready for a lasting struggle against the regime. The fact is that our people are ready to revolt against the regime.” After unseating the Sargsyan administration, the front will prepare the country for snap presidential and parliamentary elections. Armen Martirosyan, another representative of the public salvation front, added, “If any of the representatives of the acting regime participates in the elections, they will naturally employ the resources they have concentrated in their hands for many years to the detriment of people.” Armenian lawmaker Zaruhi Postanjyan says authorities can be overthrown through disobedience: there is nothing impossible in it. “Whom should we fear? This man – Serzh Sagsyan – is an ordinary person who also has fears and weaknesses and already with his littleness. We are not afraid of these petty people,” she said. The lawmaker assures everyone that the opposition is united. Head of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction, Levon Zurabyan, says no one can split the opposition. “We reject this regime and we will do our best to expel the authorities from Armenia. And we are united in rejecting the constitutional amendments.” At the same time he reminds that Serzh Sargsyan seeks to perpetuate his power Ashot Manucharyan added, in turn, that there will come a day when they will burn the tickets of the ruling Republican Party.
