Armenian Defence Minister visits frontline

On July 21 and 22, Armenia’s Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan visited Armenian military units stationed in the southwestern direction of the frontline. The defence minister visited Armenian frontline border, visited the troops and checked the status of Armenian defensive fortifications and got familiarized with tactical and personnel changes. “Seyran Ohanyan also held working consultations with the commanders of the military units, discussed the course of military watch at these outposts and organizational issues, listened to their reports and gave corresponding instructions, Artsrun Hovhannisyan,” Spokesman for the Armenian Defence Minister, wrote on his Facebook account. As reported earlier, Azerbaijani armed forces continued to intensively violate the ceasefire along the entire length of the Line of Contact between Azerbaijani and Karabakh armed forces throughout July 21. According to a statement issues by the Artsakh Defense Army on July 22,  Azerbaijan violated the truces over 160 times yesterday, firing over 1600 shots at Armenian positions from different firearms, including 123 shots from 60 mm mortars, 3 shots from RPG-7 grenade launchers and more than 140 shots from large-caliber machine-guns. Defense Army’s frontline units opened retaliatory fire to silence the enemy. The Defense Army also said it controls the situation and is ready for disproportionate and punitive actions in the event of any development of the situation.
