Infiltration attempt in Tavush: Casualties reported
Azerbaijani armed forces launched another reconnaissance-sabotage infiltration attempt on the border with Armenia, near the village of Baghanis, Tavush region, at 5.30pm, on January 11.
“Armenian army’s rapid response unit timely spotted the enemy’s special forces and neutralized the group’s further advancement, sending them back to their initial positions. The enemy suffered one loss whose body. The body of an Azerbaijani soldier was left in the territory between Armenian and Azerbaijani military positions. Sadly, an 80-year-old Armenian shepherd, Seryoja Sargsyan, was killed during the skirmish. The Republic of Armenia’s armed forces are completely in control of the situation. The full responsibility for the incident remains on the military and political leadership of Azerbaijan,” said Armenia’s Defense Ministry Spokesperson Artsrun Hovhannisyan.
