Investigator failed to record verbal statement of prisoner and did not proceed with it, says SIS
According to the report of Paruyr P., a prisoner of “Nubarashen” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice, a criminal case was instituted based on the materials prepared in the Special Investigation Service in accordance with Part 1 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code, the SIS Press Service reports. Paruyr P. reported that late in March, 2013 when being interrogated as a suspect to the criminal case reviewed in Malatia Investigation Department of the Principal Investigation Department of the Police, he verbally informed the investigator of his illegal detention in the pawnshop, but the investigator did not record the above circumstance and did not proceed with it in the manner prescribed by the law. A preliminary investigation is under way. The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
