Victory in the last round didn’t help Hovhannes Gabuzyan
Armenian chess champion Hovhannes Gabuzyan wasn’t able to win a prize at Sabalan Cup-2017 tournament in Iran. Today in the last 11th round our chess player defeated Iranian 16-year-old master Aryan Gholami, scored 7.5 points and with four chess players shared 2-6 places. Alas, with additional calculations Hovhannes Gabuzyan was recognized the 5th. Iranian GM Ghaem Maghami became the winner of the tournament, who was the only one to score 8.5 points. Representative of Spain Oleg Korneev and Iranian Pouya Idani took the 2nd and 3rd places. Our other three delegates showed humble results. Junior chess player, 12-year-old Mamikon Gharibyan took the 12th place with 6.5 points. Hrayr Simonyan, who scored 6 points, took the 19th place, and Sedrak Matevosyan took the 29th place with 5.5 points.
