On January 13, Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian tied the game against Magnus Carlsen [of Norway] in Tata Steel Chess Tournament underway in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.
"Aronyan was ahead of me all the time. Eventually luck smiled on me," Magnus Carlsen said after the match.
"I think I was playing well for some time. I was sure of my victory after the 41st step but my rival was miraculously saved at the last moment," said Levon Aronian.
Chess sites are unanimous that the Armenian GM was to have beaten Magnus Carlsen. At the same time they remind that Aronian has missed the opportunity to beat Carlsen for a second time in the last year.
