Fourteen Armenian wrestlers will take part in the World Wrestling Championship to launch in Moscow.

Greco-Roman wrestler Roman Amoyan (55 kg weight category) scored the first medal for Armenia during the World Wrestling Championship.

He passed the initial stages and entered the semi-final, but lost to four-time world champion, Iranian wrestler Hamid Sorian. For third place, Roman Amoyan won his Bulgarian opponent Venelin Venkov (8:0, 3:0). During the 2006 European Wrestling Championship, Armenia's athlete scored the champion title for the first time in the final duel with his Bulgarian opponent.

Hamid Sorian scored the champion title for the fifth time in this weight category.

Armenian wrestlers Arman Adikyan (66 kg) and Sargis Tonoyan (96 kg) started competing on the first day of the tournaments, but they didn't play well and were left out of the fight.
