Fire fighters have managed to tame the flames of the fire that burst out at 1 Firdousi in Yerevan at around 5:30.
According to eye-witnesses, the fire was preceded by a steady blast in one of the neighbouring houses. An elderly couple is said to be living in the house in abject poverty.
No information was available about possible damage or casualties. Rescuers are evacuating employees of Firdousi open-air market.
