Clergymen express support

An annual meeting of the Central Committee of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) was convened in the island of Crete, Greece.

The meeting participants discussed, among other issues, the extradition of Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov from Hungary and his subsequent release in Azerbaijan, the press service of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reported.

The members of CEC Central Committee expressed regret at the inadmissible pardon granted to Safarov by the Azerbaijani president, expressing at the same time their solidarity with and support for the Armenian people and the Armenian Apostolic Church. They prayed for justice to be established and for peace and mutual understanding among the nations to reign. In this connection the CEC Central Committee sent an official letter to the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
