February 4 is World Cancer Day. Based on the estimates of the World Health Organization, there will be 20 million new cancer patients in 2020 and 10 million patients with newly emerging diseases.
According to the RA Ministry of Health, there were 19.9% cancer cases in 2010 among adults.
The analysis on cancer, its spread, illness and deaths shows that newly emerging cancer was 3.4% common among adults in Armenia.
Based on statistics, lung cancer and bronchitis are more common among men, while breast cancer is more common among women.
According to the data of the National Oncological Center in 2010, respiratory diseases, bronchitis and lung cancer have exceeded among women 5.23 times more than men, while the death rate has been 4.2 (men-917, women-220), which is highly conditioned by the risk factors among men (high rate of cigarette use) and late diagnosis of disease.
