Silvio Berlusconi has resigned and has declared that he won't be running for the office of Prime Minister. The 75-year old politician made the declaration in an interview with the British Financial Times.
Berlusconi mentioned "I have even kept myself away from my own political party" and added that even though he is the longest living among his Italian colleagues in that office, "he hates politics"," reports ITAR-TASS.
According to the outgoing Prime Minister, he has resigned "due to the national and international presses that struck at him" and accused him of Italy's financial crisis and his relations with the mafia.
"I think if I stay, I will hurt Italy because there will be more horrible information about me. I am giving my way to others elegantly," declared Berlusconi.
