The Yerevan Municipality has sanctioned a march by "We are against Foreign-Language Schools" initiative to be held from Matenadaran to St. Sargis Church on September 5.
The march will be held under the slogan "For the Sake of Armenian-Language Education" and will be joined by non-governmental organizations and civil initiatives.
"Today when the Mother Tongue and the possibility of modernization of the Armenian identity are periled by an infamous draft adopted in the first reading at the National Assembly, the symbolism of Mashtots' activities gains more importance," reads a statement issued by the initiative.
The centuries-old Armenian school has all grounds to meet modern criteria. But it will never become foreign language," reads a statement issued by the initiative.
Before joining the march some NGOs will go on pilgrimage to St. Mesrob Mashtots Church in Oshakan village.
