75 snake bites registered

Resident of Shengavit district Ashot Arakelyan killed a gyurza-type snake near his home.

"I left work, saw a snake and immediately killed it. The residents of this district are already used to seeing many snakes in this area and we have killed many," said Ashot.
According to the Ministry of Health, there were 75 cases of snake bites this year and the highest number of cases (19) was registered in Ararat province. Fortunately, there are no victims. There were 14, 13 and 10 cases registered in Armavir, Aragatsotni and Syunik provinces respectively. There were 5 snake bites in Lori, Tavush and Kotayk provinces respectively, one case in Vayots Dzor and 3 in Yerevan.

There were no cases registered in Shirak and Gegharkunik provinces.

Seventy-three of the injured have been transferred from hospitals, but two died. One of the fatal cases was registered in Syunik province and the other in Gegharkunik.
