After an unsuccessful start in Amber Blindfold and Rapid Tournament in Nice, France, Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian was able to recover the situation scoring a victory over Dutch Jan Smeets in the 3rd round.
But in the 4th round the Armenian GM lost to Vassily Ivanchuk of Ukraine (0,5:1,5) and now shares the 7th-10th places with another four chess players.
Vassily Ivanchuk and Magnus Carlsen (Norway) are in the lead with 6 points followed by Boris Gelfand (Israel) and Alexander Grischuk (Russia) with 5 points.
After the fourth round the standings are as follows: Carlsen, Ivanchuk-6 points each, Grischuk, Gelfand-5 points each, Ponomarjov-4.5, Kramnik-4, Aronian, Karjakin, Svidler, Gashimov-3.5 points each and Dominges-2.
Levon Aronian will face Peter Svidler of Russia in the fifth round on March 18.
