The European up-to 18 year old wrestlers' championship ended in the Serbian city of Zrenya. The championship began with the freestyle wrestlers and the Armenian team scored four medals. Armenian wrestler Artak Hovhannisyan was declared winner in the lightest category (up to 42 kg). Unfortunately, his teammates weren't able to score any medals. Our three wrestlers Valodya Frangulyan (50 kg), Walter Margaryan (58 kg) and Emin Gevorgyan (63 kg) scored the bronze medals and the rest were left out of the championship.
After the Armenian team came the Greek-Roman style wrestlers. Here the Armenian wrestlers scored only one medal. Ludwig Kocharyan (50 kg) entered the semi-final, but lost to Azerbaijani Eldanis Azizli 2:9. Since the latter won in this weight category, the Armenian wrestler had the chance to fight for third place. He took advantage of the occasion and won Ukrainian wrestler Alexander Litvinenko by scoring the bronze medal. As for Albert Vardanyan (42 kg) and Hayk Arshakyan (58 kg) did not score any prizes in the duels and held the 5th place.
The Russian team was on top, followed by the Turkish and Georgian teams.
