Major Vahe Avetyan, Head of the Urology Division at the RA Defense Ministry's Military Hospital, was severely beaten up on Sunday evening at the Harsnakar Restaurant owned by Republican MP Ruben Hayrapetyan.
"Avetyan is presently in a grave condition," one of the hospital nurses told A1+.
She said that the hospital staff is struggling hard to save the 34-year-old man who underwent a skull surgery at night.
Avetisyan suffered a severe traumatic brain injury at the restaurant at about 11 p.m. He was accompanied by his colleague Artak Bayadyan, 32, who was also rushed to the hospital with injuries in the head. Fortunately, he is in a better condition now.
The incident has angered Vahe's friends. According to rumors, the military doctors were beaten up by the bodyguards of Republican MP Ruben Hayrapetyan, who is also president of Armenia's Football Federation.
"The hospital staff has gathered at the intensive care unit. They are all in a rage," one of the doctors told A1+.
The Defense Ministry has not reacted to the incident yet.
"A criminal case of premeditated assault has been launched, and you will be informed about the results additionally," Mushegh Aghekyan, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry, told A1+. He refrained from revealing more details and directed us to the RA police.
