About 76 out of the 154 people injured during yesterday's explosion at Yerevan's Republic Square are still in hospital. Twenty-five of them are still at reanimation wards. Another 78 have been discharged from hospital.
As we reported earlier, more than 154 people were injured in the Armenian capital yesterday evening after clusters of gas balloons exploded at a political rally organised by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK).
Officials blamed the explosions on a cigarette being lit near the balloons.
Despite the incident, Serzh Sargsyan went on to address thousands of people at the rally ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The balloons were decorated with the governing Republican Party's slogan "Let's believe in change".
Armenia is due to hold parliamentary elections on Sunday.
Health ministry spokesperson Shushan Hananyan told the Novosti Armeniya news agency that some of the injured were hurt in the panic after the blast.
