On Saturday a tractor dug up a big hole in a Yerevan park near Pushkin street damaging the green area. Residents of nearby houses say a new elite building is going to be erected on the site and the tractor was digging up an underground parking apron.
"They do us a lot of harm by building the parking area. They damage the green area and water pipes. Besides, they are weakening the bases of our houses," complain the residents."
The construction is sanctioned by the Yerevan City Hall. Hayk Asatryan, a senior municipality representative, says the project has been agreed upon and confirmed by the City Hall. While the residents say no relevant document has been submitted with the Ministry of Urban Development.
In response to citizens' complaints Hayk Asatryan said the green area belongs to Yerevan City and will be restored upon the completion of construction. All details connected with the construction have been studied, he added.
The construction is realized by Samvel Mayrapetyan, President of Local Developments Organization and owner of a few elite buildings in Yerevan.
