The first instance court of the Kentron and Nork Marash districts decided to quash the case of the "Freedom of Information Center" NGO against the "Armenian National Congress" alliance.
The case was quashed with the following explanation: according to the RA Civil Procedures Code, legal or physical persons can represent themselves as defendants of the civil cases.
Thus, since the Armenian National Congress is an alliance of political parties and neither a legal person nor a physical person, the Armenian National Congress alliance may not be represented in court as a defendant.
Let us remind that the "Freedom of Information Center" had filed an appeal to the court on June 26, 2009 with the demand to oblige the Armenian National Congress alliance to provide the copy of the 2008 financial report and sources of dedications worth a hundred times more than the minimum salaries established by the law within a five-day period.
