Chairman of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan still considers former partisan and current political prisoner Sasun Mikayelyan as his colleague. However, he believes that a member of the Republican faction should not sign an appeal that is addressed to his leader. According to him, their party has the opportunity to communicate with leaderof the party Serzh Sargsyan at least once a week or once a month.
"If there is an issue and the deputy believes that he must appeal to the president for Sasun, he can organize the meeting and appeal to him orally," announced Hovik Abrahamyan during a conference at the National Assembly, adding: "I think the president is not bestowed by the law to pardon anybody with a letter by a deputy or the NA chairman. The letter must be written by the person whom the pardon concerns."
The NA Chairman will welcome Nikol Pashinyan
What will change in the moral-psychological atmosphere at the National Assembly if Nikol Pashinyan comes to parliament? Based on the response to this question, it became clear that Hovik Abrahamyan will only be happy to see Nikol Pashinyan elected.
"The more opposition we have at the National Assembly, the deeper the issues will be. Many good bills and laws are born through reasonable divergence. I would welcome Nikol Pashinyan's election and his participation in the sessions," said Hovik Abrahamyan.
"The presses wrote that the chairman of the National Assembly would be in trouble if Nikol came to parliament. I say that I would like to see him elected and wish him success. No deputy can make trouble for the NA chairman and his functions," he continued.
