An argument broke out between Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian and Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police Valeri Osipyan in Freedom Square before the Heritage leader's next rally in the square.
The police official demanded that young people be removed from the Statue of Hovhannes Tumanyan.
"You do not have the right to violate the preservation rules of historical and cultural monuments. There are groups of young people near the statue. Besides, posters are posted there," Osipyan said, adding that he would take measures to keep order.
Raffi Hovannisian promised to resolve the issue within an hour.
