Serzh Sargsyan has seen many corpses, and the Republican Party will never step over the bodies of its teammates, Galust Sahakyan, Head of the Republican party faction, said referring to Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian's statement that if on April 9 (inauguration day) Serzh Sargsyan takes his fake oath on the Constitution and the Holy Bible and the Supreme Patriarch blesses the candidate, who mocks the people, then that will happen over his dead body.
"It was probably a slip-up as the statement was rather unserious, besides, one cannot lead people with such statements. To die means to surrender due to one's inability," he said.
The Republican official does not approve Raffi Hovannisian's decision to start a hunger strike in Freedom square in protest against the ‘rigged' presidential election.
"Each politician is free to determine his methods of struggle, however, the option of hunger strike is not acceptable for me," he said.
Mr Sahakyan said he did not consider Raffi Hovannisian his enemy and would, if necessary, visit him in the square. Regarding Serzh Sargsyan's possible visit, the Republican official said, "Serzh Sargsyan is a tolerant person and he might visit Hovannisian if he finds it necessary."
Galust Sahakyan also added that Serzh Sargsyan will take oath in any case. "People have already cast their ballots for Mr Sargsyan, only the theatrical part has remained," he said. "We are ready for radical changes, we are ready to provide control levers to the opposition but we are not ready to give in our hegemonic position."
