Political parties that seek to run in the Yerevan City Council elections slated for May, 2013, are to submit their applications with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) until March 21.
Talking to A1+, CEC Spokesperson Hermine Harutyunyan said they had not received any documents yet. Registration of candidate lists is slated from March 21-31.
The Council of Elders includes 65 members who are elected to four-year terms. The mayor of the city is elected by the Council of Elders. Under the law, candidates for mayor are nominated by factions in the Council of Elders.
Acting Mayor Taron Margaryan was elected to the post in November 2011.
