The National Assembly started its four-day session on February 25 with opposition MPs making statements.

"Armenia has appeared in a political crisis following the February 18 presidential election," Nikol Pashinyan, a lawmaker of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), announced at the NA.

"We have been able to isolate the evil, the occupant [Serzh Sargsyan], leaving him behind bars at Baghramyan 26 [presidential residence]," said Zaruhi Postanjyan, a lawmaker of the opposition Heritage party. She congratulated her colleagues on "the great return to Armenian Ararat."

She continued her speech, comforting the supporters of Serzh Sargsyan. "But we are so kind that we are going to free the occupant," she said, adding, "Long live Armenia!"

Ruben Hakobyan, head of the Heritage faction, congratulated his party leader Raffi Hovannisian on his victory in the presidential vote. Hakobyan congratulated Mr Hovannisian on behalf of Hovannisian's Headquarters and thousands of voters.

"I announce in the name of all forces, that support Hovannisian's bid to invalidate the election, that we are resolute to do everything within the law to make the de facto president [Raffi Hovannisian] de jure president," said Hakobyan.

"Serzh Sargsyan was elected President of Armenia in the February 18 election," Galust Sahakyan, Head of the Republican faction, hurried to correct Hakobyan. "I know one thing: the evil will be punished, hence do not commit any more evil," Sahakyan continued.

"Those, who seek to become president, can do it in 2018," said Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov.
