Presidential candidate Arman Melikyan says the votes cast for him in the February 18 ballot were stolen.

"I have proofs that the election was rigged. I was following the counting on Shant TV and as of 1 a.m. February 19 I had already 11.000 votes (6 percent). At 2 a.m. the Central Election Commission lowered the number of votes cast in my favour," Mr Melikyan told reporters on Feb 20.

The presidential candidate is going to contest the election results at the Constitutional Court. if the latter does not meet his demand, Arman Melikyan will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

To a journalist's question whether he was going to join presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian who is rallying his supporters at Liberty Square at 5 today, Mr Melikyan said, "No, I am not going to join them. Similarly, they did not join my demand."

The preliminary results issued by the country's electoral officials show Melikyan has garnered 3520 (0.24%) of votes.
