For the sake of Andrias Ghukasyan?

In today's press conference presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan referred to his decision to recall the appeal submitted to the Constitutional Court on Sunday, February 10. He says the decision was partly determined by the health condition of Andrias Ghukasyan, another presidential candidate who has been on a hunger-strike outside the National Academy of Sciences since January 21.

"When I approached Andrias and asked him whether he would stop the hunger strike if he became the long-debated joint candidate, he said he would continue the protest till the voting day. I felt a heavy burden on my conscience as I realized that by postponing the elections I would put Andrias at stake," said Mr Hayrikyan.

He added that two of the presidential candidates have positions- the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan and deputy Hrant Bagratyan.
