They used Hayrikyan to ensure tension ahead of vote

The upcoming presidential election was uninteresting from the very beginning, and one need not attach too much importance to it, says Harutyun Mesrobyan, an expert in management.

"Armenia has not held free, fair and, more importantly, interesting elections since it proclaimed independence. The assassination attempt on presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan was nothing but an intrigue to show the world the ‘tense' situation in the country at the threshold of the February 18 vote," he said.

Mr Mesrobyan believes that the political figures seek to raise their prices in the upcoming ballot while in reality none of the candidates has made serious proposals.
"Drinking toasts is not enough. It is important for us to know how the positions will be distributed if some other candidate comes to power," he said.
