At today's session, Hovik Abrahamyan, Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, announced that Khachatur Kokobelyan had left the Heritage party faction.
For his turn, Kokobelyan announced that he would hereinafter act as an independent MP, representing his party [Free Democrats] at the National Assembly. Kokobelyan also advised journalists not to seek political motives behind his announcement or try to connect it with the upcoming presidential vote. At the same time, Khachatur Kokobelyan wished success to Heritage Leader Raffi Hovannisian in the February 18 ballot.
To a journalist's question why Alexander Arzumanyan, a member of the Free Democrats party, did not follow suit and leave Heritage, Mr Kokobelyan said it was against the law.
