Mayor of Gyumri, member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Samvel Balasanyan is going to back Serzh Sargsyan in the upcoming presidential election.
"As a member of the BHK Political Council I endorse the party's decision not to nominate a candidate in February's presidential election or support the candidate of other forces.
At the same time, as an individual and citizen of the Republic of Armenia I have taken a personal decision to back Serzh Sargsyan's candidacy in the election. Naturally, I have informed BHK leader Gagik Tsarukyan about my intention," Mr Balasanyan said in a statement adding that the decision is determined by the care and tremendous work shown by Serzh Sargsyan towards Armenia's second largest city.
