Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian kicked off his presidential campaign meeting his supporters at Liberty Square in downtown Yerevan.
The party members, activists and ordinary citizens had gathered at the Aram Khachaturian statue outside the Opera House before the Heritage leader arrived at the site.
Shaking hands and chit-chatting with the attendees Raffi Hovannisian mounted the rostrum [without an overcoat] to address the rally participants.
"I am not cold as I feel warmth inside me and around me," the presidential candidate said in reply to journalists' question whether he did not feel cold without an overcoat.
The Heritage leader says his wife, Armenuhi, is going to accompany him during the campaign rallies. She is not in the country now and will join her spouse upon her return on Jan. 22.
"Armenuhi is always with me," said Mr Hovannisian
"The struggle will be led between the country's authorities and people. It is not a choice between Sezh Sargsyan and Raffi Hovannissian. During the 21 years of our independence will shall have de jure new presidency in the country," he stressed.
Should Raffi Hovannisian become the country's next president, he will implement tangible reforms in Armenia. He promises to increase pensions by 50 percent and make serious investments in social, educational and health sectors.
"The time has come to act," the Heritage leader said adding that he is ready to explain to every and each citizen that ‘February 18 is the time of their choice.'
"I am ready to do my utmost. I shall talk to them, persuade and even sing if necessary," he said.
