Lernik Alexanyan, a former lawmaker of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), does not see elements of Stalin's methods in the bugging of private conversations.

"It is a different matter if the political figures are shot after the wiretapping," said the HHK member.

"If the bugging aims to provide more information to the public, it is a good thing," Mr Alexanyan said adding that he was also bugged in his time by the Communists.
